# Safety and Data Disclaimer

A map can help you make a plan. It cannot tell you that a road, charger, or vehicle is safe right now.

PLANNING ALERT

## Check current conditions before every trip.

Check the land manager, road authority, weather service, charger operator, vehicle manual, and local emergency information. Turn around when the road, vehicle, charge, daylight, weather, or driver reaches the limit that you set.

WHAT THE SITE CANNOT CONFIRM

## Use independent judgment.

## Not navigation or emergency service

EV Backroads is not a turn-by-turn navigation system, emergency service, rescue service, or substitute for trained guidance. Do not rely on the site to contact help or locate you. Call 911 or the applicable local emergency service when you have an emergency and communication is available.

## Roads and legal access

A route line does not prove that a road is public, open, maintained, passable, or suitable for your vehicle. Gates, permits, private boundaries, tribal rules, seasonal closures, fire restrictions, washouts, snow, water, and local orders can change without notice.

## Charging stations

A charger record can be late, duplicated, incorrectly located, broken, blocked, restricted, full, incompatible, derated, or removed. “Open” means that a source currently reports the station as open. “Coming soon” does not affect current coverage and is not available for trip planning. Confirm each required charger with its operator.

## Charging-distance colors

Distance bands are calculated from mapped roads and selected open stations. They are not battery-range circles. A road graph can omit a connection, include a restricted segment, or differ from current access. A colored area does not prove that your vehicle can reach a charger.

## No-road and isolated-road layers

A no-road hatch means that the routing data does not show a nearby driveable road. An isolated-road layer means that the mapped local road system has no permanent road connection to the continental network. These layers provide context. They can contain data errors and do not replace a local access check.

## Vehicle range and fit

Actual energy use changes with speed, grade, surface, temperature, wind, tires, pressure, load, battery condition, traction, driving, and accessory use. A route match, clearance label, or modeled reserve does not confirm safe passage. Check your vehicle manual and inspect the road.

## Regenerative descent estimates

Regenerative-descent results are comparative models. They use assumed vehicle data, speed, grade, terrain, and efficiency. They do not promise recovered energy, free distance, stopping performance, or safe speed. Always control speed and follow the vehicle manual.

## Topographic profiles and maps

Elevation, trail geometry, topographic layers, and base maps come from multiple sources with different dates, resolutions, and licenses. A profile can smooth, miss, or misplace a feature. Do not use it as a survey or as the only navigation source.

## Community content

An editor reviews Trail Commons submissions for usefulness, privacy, and obvious access concerns. Review is not field verification. Conditions can change after publication. Check official sources and recent local reports.

## Electrical information

Campsite outlet and adapter guidance is general information. Use equipment that the vehicle or charger maker approves. Follow the campground rules and equipment manuals. Do not use damaged electrical equipment. Use a qualified electrician when installation or repair is required.

## Off-road risk

Backroad travel can cause injury, death, fire, environmental damage, vehicle damage, stranding, or loss of communication. Travel within your skills and vehicle limits. Carry suitable recovery, communication, water, weather, and first-aid equipment. Leave enough battery and daylight to return.
