DAVE MATTSON’S VISION
Many drivers think an EV cannot handle a backroad trip. EV Backroads shows what is possible and helps new drivers choose a safe first adventure that fits their vehicle and comfort.
WHY EV BACKROADS EXISTS
Electric vehicles have reached cities, highways, and daily life. Backroad travel still feels impossible to many drivers.
The vehicle can be capable while the plan is not. A new driver still needs to understand the road, charging, battery reserve, recovery, and the point where it is time to turn around.
My vision is to show that off-roading in an EV is possible, then help new drivers take a safe first step. The road must fit the driver’s vehicle, experience, and comfort.
Dave set the direction. Show that EVs can travel beyond pavement. Help new drivers plan a safe first off-road trip.
Dave Mattson on XSean turns that direction into the working site. He builds the product, maps, charging data, Trail Commons, publishing tools, and infrastructure. He also finds and fixes the strange edge cases.

TRUST THE PLAN
The map follows roads, not circles. It shows complete trail paths beside current fast chargers, charging gaps, campsites, and isolated road networks.
It cannot open a gate or make a road safe. Check the land manager, weather, access, and charger operator before you leave.
