TRAIL GUIDE 02 · RANGE PLANNING
Plan from the last reliable fast charger.
The nearest charger is not always the best charger. Check reliability, access hours, weather, elevation, and the full return route.
A charger pin shows a place. A trip plan shows how you will use it.
Plan the return first
Start with the return to pavement. Add the dirt distance in both directions and the road distance to a reliable charger. Add a reserve for detours, climbs, cold, wind, and soft ground.
Check the operator app before you leave. Choose a backup station that does not use the battery reserve for the trail.
Do not depend on an unverified outlet
A campground outlet, lodge charger, or rural Level 2 charger can help. Access can depend on a reservation, business hours, or working equipment. Confirm it directly.
